The Young Women Development Forum (YWDF) on last weekend took part in a consultative meeting convened by the Independent Commission for Peace and National Cohesion (ICPNC) at the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) office in Freetown.
The session brought together stakeholders to review and provide input on a draft concept for National Unity and Nation Building in Sierra Leone. According to the ICPNC, the draft document is intended to shape a framework for peace, inclusion, and sustainable development in the country.
YWDF’s National Coordinator, who represented the forum, emphasized the importance of including young women’s voices in the process. She noted that their participation is crucial in fostering dialogue, strengthening national cohesion, and ensuring that unity and peace initiatives reflect the perspectives of all citizens.
The ICPNC is expected to incorporate feedback from civil society, youth groups, and other stakeholders before finalizing the concept. The initiative forms part of ongoing national efforts to promote reconciliation and inclusive governance.
