Sierra Leone’s “Baby Dolphin” Touches Down in Romania for World Aquatics Junior Championships

Sierra Leone’s promising swimming sensation, Peter J. Bewie, popularly known as PJ Baby Dolphin, has arrived safely in Otopeni, Romania, ahead of the World Aquatics Junior Swimming Championships

Bewie, who flew in from the United States, is the first of Sierra Leone’s delegation to land for the global event. He will be joined shortly by Head Coach Gibrilla Kanu Bamba and fellow swimmer John Alimamy Samura.

The young star is set to compete in the 50m Breaststroke and 50m Freestyle events on Thursday and Saturday, where he will face off against some of the world’s most talented junior swimmers.

In a statement on arrival, Bewie expressed his excitement and readiness for the challenge:
“It’s an honor to represent Sierra Leone on such a big stage. I am ready to give my best and make my country proud.”

The championships, which gather hundreds of elite junior athletes from across the globe, offer a massive platform for Sierra Leone’s representation in international aquatics. For Bewie, this is more than a personal achievement—it is a chance to inspire young swimmers back home and further put Sierra Leone on the world swimming map.

The Sierra Leone Swimming, Diving and Water Polo Association (SLSDWPA) has extended its full support, urging Sierra Leoneans everywhere to rally behind Bewie as he flies the green, white, and blue with pride.
