Women in Port Loko District have received a total of NLe 2 billion in soft loans under the J-IMPACT initiative, spearheaded by APC flagbearer aspirant Sheikh Alhaji Mohamed “Omodu” Kamara, popularly known as Jagaban.
The final disbursement took place at the Waka Waka Resort in Kaffu Bullom Chiefdom, where 320 beneficiaries were presented with interest-free loans structured on a two-year repayment plan. Beneficiaries are required to pay NLe 200 monthly, making the scheme a revolving loan designed to extend support to other women across Sierra Leone’s 16 districts.
Addressing the ceremony, Hon. Ibrahim Aziz Bangura of Constituency 076 praised the initiative, describing it as a “practical demonstration of leadership” and urged recipients to repay on time so more women can benefit.
Port Loko District Chairman Alie Summah lauded Jagaban as a “true son of the soil,” citing his broader contributions to the district, including solar power installations, improved access to clean water, medical assistance, youth and women empowerment, and support to traditional and religious leaders. He also highlighted the ongoing construction of a multi-purpose research library in the district, funded by Jagaban.
APC Northwest Regional Chairman, Hon. Kombor Kamara, reaffirmed the district’s support for Jagaban, contrasting his developmental activities with politicians who “only appear during elections.” He proposed a traditional song to honor his contributions.
In his keynote address, Jagaban expressed gratitude to the people of Port Loko and restated his commitment to national development and the APC. He pledged to donate his entire presidential salary to charity if elected in 2026 and vowed to expand access to interest-free loans nationwide.
“Port Loko District will become a major city with modern colleges, hospitals, schools, and more,” he said, calling on the people to support his presidential bid. He emphasized that his mission was not to compete within the APC but “to give back to Sierra Leone and to those in need.”
