NASSIT Boss Signs Landmark MOU with Africa Finance Corporation

The Director General of the National Social Security and Insurance Trust (NASSIT), Mohamed Fuaad Daboh, has signed a landmark Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Africa Finance Corporation (AFC) to boost Africa’s infrastructure investment drive.

The signing took place on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly in New York and was hosted by the AFC. Mr. Daboh signed on behalf of the Africa Social Security Association (ASSA), where he serves as a founding member and Governing Council representative of the Chairman, Nassar Shaaban Ameir, Managing Director of the Zanzibar Social Security Fund.

The agreement seeks to strengthen ASSA’s institutional capacity and expand its role in advancing Africa’s infrastructure agenda. It will also pave the way for the establishment of an Infrastructure Investment Fund for Africa, targeting key sectors such as transportation, energy, water and sanitation, and telecommunications.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Daboh expressed appreciation to the AFC for its commitment, describing the partnership as historic for the continent’s social security systems. “This will contribute to the economic growth in our nations,” he said.

AFC President and CEO, Samaila Zubairu, affirmed the corporation’s readiness to collaborate on research into African pension regulations and policy frameworks needed to channel long-term savings into infrastructure projects.

Meanwhile, Mr. Daboh is set to attend the World Social Security Forum in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, from 29 September to 3 October 2025. He will address the forum on the impact of social security on Sierra Leone’s socio-economic development, participate as a panelist on good governance, and engage in high-level discussions on social protection for the informal sector, including the planned Salone Informal Sector Pension Scheme.
