IGP Sellu Demands Stronger Policing in Southern Region

Inspector General of Police (IGP) William Fayia Sellu has ordered police commanders in the Southern Region to step up crime prevention efforts, warning against lapses in operational delivery.

During a meeting with regional and local commanders in Bo, IGP Sellu directed Operations Officers to submit detailed plans of action, including arrest records and other key enforcement data.

He criticized the neglect of the police’s Strategic Development Plan (SDP) by some Local Unit Commanders, stressing that its first three priorities—crime fighting, community engagement, and proactive policing—remain central to their responsibilities.

“Community engagement is not optional; it is one of the tracking metrics we use to assess your contributions to the Strategic Development Plan,” he said.

Sellu reminded commanders that effective leadership requires focus on operations, investigations, and intelligence, urging them to adapt available resources to their local terrain.

“The uniforms you wear are not just fabric. They represent a solemn oath to serve humanity and protect this nation. Do not allow your territory to become a playground for armed robbers,” the IGP cautioned.

The visit signals a renewed push for accountability and professional policing across the Southern Region.
