The runoff election for the Paramount Chieftaincy of Bumpeh Perri Chiefdom in Pujehun District concluded peacefully on Wednesday, March 12, 2025.
After an initial round featuring nine candidates, the two leading contenders, Massally Mohamed Kpakra and Koroma Madda Vincent, advanced to the decisive runoff. The final vote count saw Kpakra securing 416 votes against Vincent’s 347, with 13 ballots deemed invalid. Kpakra’s victory establishes him as the next Paramount Chief of Bumpeh Perri Chiefdom.
Security agencies, led by the Sierra Leone Police, worked in coordination with other key stakeholders to ensure a transparent and orderly electoral process. Superintendent Rashid O. Koroma, Local Unit Commander of Pujehun Division, spearheaded security operations with support from Regional Police Commander South, Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) Brima Kanneh, Officer Commanding 14 Battalion, Lieutenant Colonel Saidu Kuyateh, and District Officer of the Office of National Security (ONS), Festus Gbanie.

The Electoral Commission for Sierra Leone (ECSL) managed the election with neutrality and efficiency, maintaining credibility throughout the process. Civil Society Organizations (CSOs), led by Regional Convener South Mustapha Kpaka Jr., also played an instrumental role in election monitoring.
Authorities praised the peaceful conduct of the election, highlighting the commitment of Bumpeh Perri Chiefdom residents to democratic principles. The Sierra Leone Police acknowledged the cooperation of all parties involved and urged continued peace and unity as Chief-elect Kpakra assumes leadership.
The official declaration of results solidifies Kpakra’s mandate, marking a significant transition in the traditional leadership of Bumpeh Perri Chiefdom.
