Rakes HR Africa Expands to Sierra Leone, Launches New Office in Freetown

By Sorie Sesay

One of Ghana’s leading human resource management firms, Rakes HR Africa, has officially launched its Sierra Leone branch at 23 Old Motor Road, Congo Cross, Freetown, marking its entry into the country’s growing HR and employment services sector.

Speaking at the launch event, Robert Sam, Chief Executive Officer and Director of Rakes HR Africa, said the company’s expansion into Sierra Leone forms part of its broader vision to build a Pan-African HR network that connects talent and opportunities across the continent.

“Rakes HR Africa provides recruitment, payroll management, outsourcing, training, and consultancy services. Our goal is to ensure client satisfaction through professionalism and efficiency,” Sam said.

Established in 1999 as a subsidiary of Rakes Company Limited, the firm has built a strong reputation in Ghana for delivering innovative and reliable human resource solutions. Over the years, it has expanded its footprint to Zambia, The Gambia, and now Sierra Leone, with plans to open additional branches in Liberia and other African countries.

During her remarks, Ernestina Naami Abbey, Country Manager of Rakes HR Africa Sierra Leone Limited, shared some of the challenges faced in setting up the local operation.

“Adapting to cultural differences, language barriers, and currency fluctuations has been a learning experience,” she said. “Even the frequent rains here compared to Ghana’s hotter climate have been an adjustment but we are adapting well.”

Abbey noted that the company has begun collaborating with the National YouthCommission to identify unemployed graduates for potential job placements. Through community outreach and online awareness campaigns, Rakes HR Africa has already begun processing applications, with several young people now in the final stages of recruitment.

She reaffirmed the company’s commitment to helping Sierra Leoneans find meaningful employment and announced plans to extend operations to other provinces across the country.

“We are here to support Sierra Leone’s workforce and empower young people with the skills and opportunities they need,” Abbey concluded.

The launch of Rakes HR Africa in Sierra Leone signals a boost to the country’s employment services landscape and underscores the growing interest of regional firms in Sierra Leone’s human capital development.
